January 1, 2024 - decanted for 30 minutes and we enjoyed it, but I was expecting a bit more, the fruit was fading a bit. This is my fourth bottle (one to go) and it is a nice Bordeaux, but we had a night with other very good wines and if I compare this one, it is good, but not outstanding at this price level.

December 10, 2023 - I’ve always liked this wine, and tonight was no exception. It’s very smooth and juicy. The nose has a nice amount of complexity from red/black fruit to green tobacco and leather. It needs at least 60 minutes in the decanter before it really starts to shine. Then it keeps improving. While the vintage is maligned, this wine should change some minds. Drink now with a brief decant or old for another 5-10 years.

October 20, 2023 - Coravin fun - Domaine de Chevalier rouge (My place, Kent Street): From Coravin. Medium minus intensity aromas, black hued fruits especially blackcurrant, tiny meaty note, cedar, oak spice, quite a classic claret nose. Juicy, fleshy, dark fruits hand in hand with cedary, woody tannins with a very slightly meaty underpin, all travels long with a little biscuit, balanced. Good.

October 16, 2023 - Consistent with my earlier note. Newly acquired OWC from BBR. This one was even more accessible, PnP, and good to go after 30 mins vs. the ~2 hr+ decant I found needed with my previous bottle 3/4 months back.

July 15, 2023 - A beautiful expression of Pessac Leognan. Took some time to open up in the decanter, 2-3 hours even; which surprised me, I would have expected it to be more approachable now given the vintage and age. Wonderful cigar box, mushroom, charcoal and graphite. Plenty of black fruit and well integrated tannins. Wonderful, I will be acquiring more.

April 14, 2023 - Coravin fun - Domaine de Chevalier (My place, Kent Street): From Coravin. Medium minus intensity aromas of fresh blackcurrant, a little sweet spice, wild plum, cedar, with agitation a touch of herbaceous underpin. Medium plus intensity acidity, fresh blackcurrant backed by that herbaceous note and an almost smoky note, cedar, tannins are drying and travel long but are surprisingly silky. this is balanced, complex and rather yummy

September 9, 2022 - A blend of 65% CS, 30% Merlot and 5% PV, wine is aged for 18 months in oak, 35% new. Deep garnet colour, ruby hue. Medium intensity aroma of rubber, leather, barnyard, cassis, violets, graphite.
Medium+ body, smooth and well balanced with rich and concentrated mouthfeel, earthy, spiced and layered black fruit flavours with leathery and flinty hints, fine grained chalky tannins, medium+ finish.

August 27, 2022 - Bert's pension party part 1 (@ BV): In the bouquet dark berries, laurel, licorice, a touch of barnyard and a pleasant dose of oak. Same on the palate. Some graphite beautiful acidity and round tannin. Still very youthful and will improve over the next 4 – 6+ years.
