June 11, 2018 - I opened one of my last two bottles with low expectations, but was delighted by what I found. To begin, the cork was intact and the fill was high, but the best part was that the wine was delicious. Still a fair amount of fruit that was smooth, subtle and elegant. What a discovery!

June 10, 2016 - Opened for an hour, not as brown as I thought it would be, still some fruit left in this, definitely taste the age and remnants of cassis, but is held together with a good finish of tannins, slight, but still there.

January 27, 1992 - At home at dinner (ravioli stuffed with ricotta) with K. This wine reminds me very much of a Heitz "Martha's." Deep, dark ruby, in fact almost opaque. Extremely viscous, with thick, fat legs and lots of extract. Somewhat brooding appearance. Tell-tale eucalyptus in the nose really comes to the fore on the palate. Certainly has plenty of guts for the long haul, but that minty, eucalyptus quality really helps make it drinkable now. Actually, the eucalyptus is a little too much. 5-11-15-7: 88/100.

Alcohol, fruit on nose, fruity taste with soft tannins, medium body.
