Community Tasting Notes 5

May 21, 2021 - Pronounced nose intensity with notes of vanilla, spices, black plums, black fruits, charr wood. High acidity and tannin. Medium+ body and finish.

July 30, 2016 - During a merchant tasting. Medium ruby. Expressive nose of red fruit, earth, spices, oak and wet fur. Very nice mid mouth volume for the 2011, I must say. Slightly dry finish a the moment but overall quite nice for this vintage.

April 19, 2012 - Blending 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 8% Franc and 2% Cabernet Franc, the wine reached 13% alcohol. The wine represents 28% of the harvest. More of the wine was relegated to the third and fourth wines of Margaux. The wine opens with floral, black raspberry, mocha and earthy scents. Medium-bodied, with soft, fresh red berries, the wine ends with sweet cassis and cherry. 89-91 Pts

April 2, 2012 - 2012 Bordeaux Trip; 4/1/2012-4/4/2012 (Bordeaux, France): 28% of production, CS 65%, M 25%, PV 8%, CF 2%. Subtle vibrant nose with a definite floral component, violets, cherry and licorice. Palate is quite tannic, with a touch of hardness almost making it astringent and slightly hollow, but the finish comes roaring back with tons of red fruit. Overall impressive for a second wine, though my initial impression was worrisome given the hollowness in the mid-palate. Still has nicely concentrated, pure, vibrant fruit. 89-93

April 2, 2012 - GJE CRD 2008 and EP 2011; 3/29/2012-4/4/2012 (Bordeaux, France): Very fresh, beautiful and expressive. Blue fruits with a hint of red, fresh forward fruits, mushroom and earth. Nice wine that will drink well in five years.
