March 1, 2024 - Burgundy Tasting (Restaurant Brunnenstube, Beinstein): Clear, medium golden color with a salmon hue. On nose and palate the complete opposite of the 2003 DomPi we had in parallel: Fine, elegant nose with lots of red fruit and fresh green apple. On the palate very precise, lean, youthful and fresh. Finest mousseux, elegant and very long. I guess it is not yet at its full peak and could benefit from 5+ years of cellaring. Very beautiful! 94

January 4, 2024 - Remarkably young and fruity for a wine of such age. Not many bubbles left. Some fruitiness on nose and palate. Very nice but not worth the price.

January 1, 2024 - Quite disappointing. I was hoping for some action but no highlights. I tried different temperatures and waited in vain. Hurray to the older years such as 1999.

March 30, 2023 - Olive Garden Party (Cristal vertical) (Chicago, IL): I think others liked this a lot more than I did. Strongly reductive nose (not off-puttingly so, more in the context of the lineup), but enough sweet fruit and bready notes to balance that out. On the palate, this was where the wine fell off -- I found it angular and disjoint, as if all the pieces were just tacked on rather than a seamless package from the start. This just didn't feel integrated at all.

January 30, 2023 - Easily the weakest wine in the line-up. Third time tasting this and it's clearly a rare off-vintage for Cristal with less intensity, fruit and focus. Tastes diluted compared to the other surrounding vintages.

November 11, 2022 - 1982 Bordeaux (Jason's house): Very fine beads. The wine is very lively, bright, effervescent with light brioche, lemon and apple.

November 10, 2022 - Wine weekend in the Twin Cities; 11/10/2022-11/12/2022 (Where the frosty air is refreshing.. kind of): N: Subtle yellow fruits, dried river bed, and soft egg bread?

P: Yielding yellow fruits (shy/faint ripeness), sparkling and slightly savory minerals that are more dominant than the fruits, and a bit of spice on the finish.

Was hoping for a bit more excitement from this. Might’ve needed more time. The other gents seemed to really enjoyed it so it might be just me.
