August 4, 2021 - Decanted at the restaurant...still dark red...muted nose...a little fruit on the back end and taking on Bordeaux qualities...more earthy...short finish...very smooth.
June 15, 2016 - This wine is drinking phenomenally right now! Ripe blue and black fruits on a very long 60-90 second finish. Thoroughly enjoyed with a bone in NY strip and was the crowd favorite. Alas my last bottle of this beauty!!
October 20, 2015 - This wine....was like a crazy, wonderful ride - aromatics were so classic, but then take a sip...one thing...then another...then another...then another!! GORGEOUS. I have two bottles left, and can't wait to share them with the right people - drink now - it's fantastic!
December 4, 2013 - This wine is drinking phenomenally well right now. This was the last bottle of the evening after Martinelli and Williams Selyem Pinots and an Arrowood Reserve Cab and everyone at the table agreed it was the highlight of the evening. Popped and poured this bottle and drank over a period of about 1 hour. Flavors of Black raspberry liqueur with a viscosity and minute long finish on the palate. A real stunner, this wine should drink well for another decade.
June 14, 2013 - Nose: raisins, prunes
Taste: anise, black berries, very smooth
March 22, 2011 - This is at such a gorgeous point - balanced, beautiful nose, fruit and finish......
February 19, 2011 - Opened and let sit for six hours before pouring. Have gotten anxious about drinking B&H over the years, but this bottle had a regular cork and I could smell the fruit upon opening. Nice dark fruit and violet as we consumed it. I thought this was primarily Cabernet, but I see that there is a lot of Cabernet Franc in it, which provides a great finish. Glad to have one more bottle.
January 12, 2011 - Sampled 1/11/11. A big black fruited wine that is overripe with a bit too much alcohol coming through. Some tobacco and leather notes. At mid palate the wine started to fade a bit. I get the feeling this wine is very much on its way down. Les Behrens is not shy about saying that most of his wines should be consumed young. This is certainly no exception. Drink up.
December 12, 2010 - Pop and pour. Definately a cab-based blend (48%), the cab franc component (32%) helps tame it, but this is still a very tannic wine with the slightest heat over a very dry body. Fruit is evident but overpowered at present, slight bell pepper. Has added some weight in the last 18 months, my last bottle but this could open up further in the coming 1-3 years.
September 28, 2010 - Decanted 1 hour.
