January 14, 2019 - N: A melding of minerals & choc with undertones of berries? Notes of something medicinal (iodine?)
P: Med body; Rndish entry with NICE, almost swtish frt counterbalanced by a smidgen of VERY slightly puckerish astringency which QUITE resolves by the LONG, balanced finish with a minerality to the precious few, dusty tannins. For now & into '20, though no NEED to cellar further. 13.5% ABV; My VG+/EXC-. 93 pts WE, an "Editors' Choice", & their #20/Top 100 for '13 @ $16, the ave price of the preceding 19 being $35+, & Gold @ '13 Concours Mondial de Bruxelles.
April 22, 2017 - Better than expected. Time was kind to this wine. Might get better with another year, but I think now is the sweet spot. Great value wine.
September 6, 2016 - [Used Private Preserve after each day.]
N: Plums, spice, poss some tobacco, menthol, smokiness, &/or earth? On the muted side, however, + the aromas don't hold.
P: LM body; EXCELLENT acidity; Seamless, lingering, albeit faintly. NO richness, yet VERY elegant!
Day 2 N: Forest floor with notes of pyrazines; Still fades
Day 2 P: LM body; Pretty much like Day 1: I.e., insignificant falloff.
Day 3 N: Similar to Day 2, with (at least initially) the menthol notes once again apparent.
Day 3 P: Interesting combo of power & elegance. Has gained body: now Med, poss even MF.
Conclusion: I don't know WHAT to predict re WHEN to drink our last bottle of this. I'm thinking I'll check back here in mid '17?
October 11, 2015 - Drinking well. I don't recall much as it was the last wine of a long drinking night with friends. I remember everyone commenting that it was delicious. I think I have another, so will leave a better note later. Did not seem to have really hit its peak yet.
September 10, 2015 - the nose is strawberry, euxcalyptus and a bit of earth. on the palate there is raspberry and eucalyptus. there is a slight bitter aftertaste that is not pleasant
July 28, 2015 - A nose of some dark fruit and funk, garnet in color. A medium to full bodied red blend, with black cherry, berry, rustic with some spice on finish. www.winelx.com
March 5, 2014 - I like to try unknown wines made with different grapes from other places than France or Italy. For $15 with free shipping why not? Well the wine was just so-so. Decent nose but thin and un-inspriring but no regrets at the price.
