May 21, 2023 - The bottle smelt distinctly of damp and the paper parts of the label were degraded leaving only gold writing. The capsule was in good order and the cork was wet to the top but easily extracted with a Durand.
Decanted off a tiny amount of fine sediment approximately 20 minutes before serving. The colour was thin and quite ruby. The aroma was similarly thin but pretty with some mocha over a little fruit. In the mouth also thin but pretty. Very nice old claret but not wow. Hard to score as it is difficult to detail its best qualities beyond the desire to keep going back for more.

March 22, 2020 - Impressive bottle. I've tasted maybe 2-3 times from same case and this bottle was definitely the gifted one. Beautiful aromatics of leather, licquorice, minty. The palate still silky and delicious.

August 30, 2019 - 70’s Bordeaux Blind Tasting: 2nd bottle on 2nd flight - The group was impressed by the 1st bottle on the 2nd flight, especially after a generally disappointing 1st flight. However, this 2nd bottle brought the game up one notch.

Nose of black fruits, liquorice, peppers, spices. Palate of black fruits, mint leaves, eucalyptus, bell peppers. Nice long minty and lingering finish. Power and elegance at the same time - amazing for a 1973. I guessed this was either the Margaux 1973 or Pichon Baron 1978, and I am happy to be right as this showed the ageing potential of the First Growths. Best bottle for me for the night. Unfortunately, the wine did fade away rather quickly.

March 25, 2019 - Interesting and refined aromas. On the palate initially quite fruity and spicy but dry, thin and charmless at the end.

November 24, 2016 - It's probably not fair to rate this wine -- any failings are almost certainly the result of decades of mediocre storage skills. But it was still vibrant, brick-red in color and lovely -- if just a little past perfect.
