September 26, 2022 - 2022 Port Harvest Tour; 9/22/2022-10/2/2022 (Porto, Portugal): This is an unfiltered cask sample, bottled this morning. It is amber-orange in color with clear yellow edges. There are cream caramel and smoky notes on the nose, leading to a smooth entry. Carlos Flores told us that 1998 was a little bit disappointing for him until after about ten years in bottle, then it took off. Dynamic complexity unfolds with lively acidity, orange spice, dry fruits, and nuts on the palate. A long, vibrant finish comes in waves, showcasing fresh complexity.
