May 28, 2021 - mature bricking red color, warm nose, aged sweet cassis, green stems noted, on the palate a genteel fully mature fruit, grey moss, cassis, sweet spice notes, nutmeg, good finish.

***, ready to go, drink soon.

October 2, 2019 - Opened this lovely 55 year old wine and literally PNP after abt one hour. Lovely nose and still has great structure and acidity.

August 28, 2016 - The '64 Poyferré is an attractive wine from an era in which this estate seems to be a touch under-rated. A classic bouquet of cassis, cedar and gravely soil tones is followed by a juicy, supple wine with plenty of fruit and energy. This isn't on the level of the best '64 Médocs I've tasted, including Latour and Pichon Lalande, but it is a lovely drink.

May 12, 2016 - Very nice old claret. Still some black fruit left in the background, some smoky green character, tannins almost totally resolved, this is super beefy and savory. Not surprisingly, goes well with beef.

January 8, 2016 - Showed a bit funky and prune/raisin like nose upon opening. Needed a good hour to show more range of fruit. Really enjoyable after an hour in the glass/decanter.

October 25, 2015 - Violet color with a small halo. Complex bouquet that is typical for the well aged Bordeaux: cedar , game and tobacco along with some medium red fruits. Integrated flavors with medium red fruit repeated. The body is thinning and that pairs well with the finish. It can carry a a special meal and evening.

October 8, 2015 - Old Beauties Dinner: Poured a bright purplish, red hue. Aromatics were very bright and floral. Underneath the bright cherry/pomegranate tones it had some nice smokey/earthy/mushroomy notes. The palate was very fresh with some sweet tannins lingering about. Really nice combination of fruit & earth. Had the tertiary notes of graphite, and some soy on the finish. Thought it was in a great place. Definitely a vintage that's under the radar a bit, but I liked it a lot.

June 9, 2015 - Holding up surprisingly well with cool red fruits, concentration slightly diluted and elegant, with good freshness and soft tannin. Not a ton of tobacco and earth notes on this, but they are perceptible. Alcohol well hidden. Pop and pour, consumed over an hour.

September 19, 2013 - Brick red in decanter: great structure, solid acids and tannins but lacking genuine fruit, but still a lovely well balanced wine at 49 years of age. Lovely unmistakeable smell of old bordeaux.
