October 19, 2023 - Deep ruby color. Still plenty of fruit with hints of blackberry and cherry with a bit of vanilla and the start of an earthy flavor.

March 3, 2023 - double decanted 2½ hours before drinking. Still a very big wine, with lots of coconut butter and vanilla, really sweet, a bit of leather. Beautiful fragrance and also on the palate.

October 2, 2022 - Two hour decant after reading other tasting notes. Generous Syrah nose of blackberry and pepper. Smooth first taste - berries and plum. Slow wave of pepper - a long and warm finish.

It does need the longer decant, and would drink now before it loses its punch.

February 8, 2022 - Enjoyed after an hour's decant. The years have been very good to this wine, it's lush, layered and complex with a lovely whiff of iodine on the nose. Tannins are almost completely resolved but there was enough acid to pair beautifully with a ribeye. Gorgeous.

December 13, 2020 - Deep red, tannins mellow and fully integrated. Good fruit
A delicious wine which has aged very well. Plenty left.

Rockss and Fruit

(Arietta "Variation One") An interesting blend of Syrah and Merlot. Very Northern Rhone like on the nose with game, garrigue, violets, blueberries & plums. Great synergy in the mouth with juicy dark fruits, great concentration, serious restraint and wonderful elegance. There is some American oak tones but . . hey . . . that is part of the package. One of the best CA wines I have had in a while. Very classy stuff.
