January 5, 2024 - Champagne and claret (John's place, Croton): Producer over vintage, producer over vintage, producer over vintage. As Barney Gumble said in one episode of the Simpsons, just hook it up to my veins. I could have drunk a lot of this (and preferred it to the '01 alongside). It's lightweight for Bordeaux, but holy crap the aromatics are an immediate wow. An array of fresh dark berried fruit with bright green forestal and herbal notes, leading into a palate that's quite gentle and barely even medium weight, but conveying impressive presence and depth. It falls away a touch at the finish, but the whole package is a lovely, fragrant, and immensely complex wine. Loved this.

December 30, 2023 - Bordecembre .. no. 40. It was only after 40 Bordeauxs this month of December that a Pomerol makes an appearance.

Whilst 1993 was a weaker Bordeaux vintage, it seems Merlot fared a lot better. This Trotanoy certainly did show any dilution issues!

Some fruit still remaining with those plum notes, beautiful polished leather palate and forest floor revealing the amazing age too. 30 years! 90% Merlot, 10% Cab Franc.

Thanks to WMK for us with one of the most haunting and really stunning beauty.. Happy New Year 2024!

October 13, 2022 - This was equal in quality to the 1990, maybe a touch fresher. Good value here, but far from being the best in a lineup against Cheval Blanc, Ausone, and Pavie.

February 19, 2022 - A so-so vintage for Bordeaux, but a great vintage for Trotanoy.
This wine is still very young but is also great to drink now. Everything is very harmoneus and in tremendeous balance.
With dark merlot fruit and medium to full bodied.
    Perfectly stored since release. Pnp.
Previously 82, 95, 99, 2004, 2006, 2007 and 2011 from this chateau. As Trotanoy is quite expensive and also needs some 30 years to mature, this is certainly a vintage to consider.

October 24, 2021 - I was not expecting much from this wine, considering the vintage and the condition of this particular bottle, which had a top shoulder fill and some signs of past seepage (plus a Mexican importer's label, so who knows how it was shipped/stored). The cork was saturated as well, and moldy on top, but was extracted pretty much intact with my Durand. Well, as much as we all preach the necessity of good storage, this battered and bruised bottle is a testament to the durability of BDX. This was like drinking liquid silk, so smooth and elegant, with gorgeous plum and sous bois flavors, and a richness that belies this lesser vintage. I don't have a lot of experience with this estate, but have been impressed each time.
