February 25, 2024 - Riesling bash at CHIKO (Chevy Chase, Maryland): This had a vibe full of cinnamon baked apples, honeyed biscuits, almond cake, some spiced apple cider. Fun and tasty but lacked verve and seemed past prime.

August 15, 2022 - Two months after the prior: happily, essentially the same. Yes, it’s a touch sweeter than we might prefer. But there is lovely tension, and it’s beautifully balanced. Highly enjoyable over four nights.

June 22, 2022 - Medium golden. Sweet yellow fruit, balanced by adequate acidity. Nice tension. A touch of pleasant petrol and stone fruit pit. Very enjoyable spread out over five nights, gassed in between.

November 4, 2018 - Slightly sweeter than I would have expected for a kabinett.
A little petrol on the nose.
Slightly reductive with flavors of sweet Apple, honey, pear.
    Worked well with Thai food

July 9, 2016 - This is a classic Kabinett with a welcome dryness showing on the finish. The fruit has faded & this should be drunk soon.

December 26, 2015 - Another good bottle. Under screwcap, this came out a bit reductive and one-dimensional when popped and poured, but a day or two in the bottle and it really opened up. It had a lovely nose, almost more Spatlese than Kabinett in its honey and stone fruit aromas laced with lime zest and stony mineral scents. On the palate, however, this was as classic a Kabinett as I have had in years given the warm, heavy vintages that dominated the late noughties and into 2010. Here, a lovely laser-beam of Mosel acid and minerality speared its way through wonderful clear, clean flavours of green apples and citrus fruit, just edged with a hint of white peach. Supremely balanced and beautifully fresh, this was a joy to drink with both Christmas ham and roast pork as well as our home-cooked Chinese food a couple of days later. Starting to drink nicely now, but it should be even better in a couple of years.
