Community Tasting Notes 8

October 12, 2018 - This is a Petit Verdot dominant (62%) red blend with Merlot (13%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (25%). It is an opaque dark garnet with no sign of age. The nose shows an immediate burst of oaky spice then layers of florals, black fruit and berries. Still quite tannic at 9 years old. Bright spicy black fruit flavors dominate along with graphite, tobacco and a disappointingly short finish. Kind of an old school Bordeaux style like they made in the 1970's...? I think this will be better with a good deal more time in the cellar actually...I won't drink the next one until at least its 15th birthday...

November 8, 2017 - Last bottle. Nicely balanced. Really coming into its own. Wish I had more to see how it will develop.

March 18, 2016 - Still going strong with lots of life left. Solid bordeaux blend with 62% Petit Verdot, 25% CS, 13% merlot. Balanced with nice fruit and smooth tannins.

July 16, 2014 - Nose of ripe black currant and plums, spices, in line with typical VA bouquets
Palate is earthy, with some tart cherry showing through, bold tannins, Bdx-esque (more so than at cellar tasting)
Finish was oakey with spicy black pepper lingering

November 16, 2013 - Bright berries on the nose and palate. Medium mouthfeel with a slightly lingering finish.
