March 25, 2022 - Retail $120? Big. Ass. Bottle. 100% Pinot Noir. This is a bit of a tough wine on a few fronts. First, it comes from a really difficult vintage when several weeks of intense heat really challenged winemakers across France. Second, the last bottle I tried, nearly a decade ago, was not stellar (and that is being kind). Last, I popped this on the tenth anniversary of a really difficult night for me (I should have died), and I was forced to face it alone. So I popped this. And. It. Was. Stellar. Dark cherry and raspberry fruit with an intense acidity (which was shocking given the year), that married almost perfectly with that luscious fruit. I don't drink a ton of Burgundy these days, but this was well beyond expectations. Outstanding.

April 24, 2013 - This is an odd wine. The 2003 vintage was one of the toughest ever in Burgundy due to the extreme heat. Many winemakers had no idea what to do and some tried to craft a "New World" style Pinot, which seems to be what is going on here. Considerable fruit, a bit of it "stewed" but light on the acidity and backbone. I liked it, but it certainly did not seem like a "Burgundy”. thedrunkencyclist.com

November 27, 2012 - For color the wine is starting to show some age, crimson with some slight bricking along with some presentable sparkle. On the nose a prominent sweaty note that quickly dissipates to some cherry and bergamot, followed by wild flowers and apricot. On the palate, medium-big structure with nice lift and a smattering of tannins in just the right amount. Medium light weight with cherry and strawberry and a splash of green tea. Medium length finish with a touch of acidity hanging on and some prominent tannins for a Pinot. This wine needs more time. At first opening it was disjointed as previously mentioned. 3.5 hour decant and this wine really came to life and was enjoyable. I would give this wine another 1.5-2 years in bottle and try again. Nice QBR imo.

April 20, 2012 - Trip’s visit to DC (Marks duckhouse, Falls Church, Va): The vineyard that I know well but the domaine that is new to me. This unfortunately demonstrates the major flaws of the 03 vintage. Overripe, VA, clumsy, disjointed and tired. Strawberry jam. Reminds me a poorly made cotes du rhone.
