May 8, 2022 - The second bottle. The same rating. Red and black fruits (raspberries, cherries). Some smokiness with light taste of vanilla and caramel. Medium acidity with a little astringent tannins (small grains in the wine so it is good to decant it). Medium body and aftertaste.

April 17, 2020 - Dark impenetrable reddish purple color with an intoxicating intense nose of dark ripe cherries, blueberries, blackberries, acetone, wild game, with plenty of vanilla oak with a noticeable watery mineral edge. The palate is rich, medium full-bodied, with good balance with just the right amount of savoriness which makes this wine so, so easy to drink. The flavor component includes ripe dark fruits, some nail polish, some tobacco, medium roast coffee, some floral and aromatic herbal qualities reminiscent of cumin, wild game, and lots of inky minerality especially on the backend. This is a big and modern St. Emilion and a very well-made wine that is definitely well in its drinking window but with plenty of years to go. It is definitely drinking much more integrated and the tannins mellow considerably now than I last had this 5 years ago. Especially enjoyable is the protracted complex oak-inflected, mineral-infused, fruit-driven finish. Yum.

September 6, 2015 - Blind tasting of Grand Cercle wines 2011 vintage: Part II (Château Bellefont-Belcier): No denying the fine terroir here. Tasted non blind as well, with consistent notes. This has mid palate sap, red fruit expression, some oak derived tannin, but overall fine structure and medium length.

August 9, 2015 - Deep dark blackish purple with a nice nose of dark cherries, cassis, blueberry with a little liquorice and lots of rich vanilla cream. The palate is quite big and full but surprisingly soft in texture. The flavour components of this wine includes cassis, blueberries, dark cherries and other dark fruits, dark chocolate, vanilla cream and quite noticeable impressions of Chinese ink and minerals. Obviously still quite tannic and young in its development at the moment, but this St. Emilion Grand Cru definitely show great prospects for the future. Looking forward to trying this again in 4-5 years after it has settled down a bit more.

March 30, 2013 - Youthful but not too firm. Nose opens up with air to yield blackberry/currant/cassis aromas. Fuller in the mouth than Lunelles (tasted at same time). Mouth-coating with dark currant.berry, spice and fine-grained sweet fruit tannin. Well balanced, muscular but retaining a sense of elegance with good acidity - likely to reach its apogee just a little ahead of the Clos Lunelles. Not monolithic, simply not maintaining a complex conversational interest with the drinker. Lovely wine - worth the exploration!
