January 31, 2020 - Gala Dinner at La Festa del Barolo 2020 (The Pool Restaurant, NYC): Big, ripe red fruit nose. Thick and rich in the mouth. Still tannic, but lots of red fruit and vanilla. Needs more time.

December 27, 2019 - From mag. Decanted 6+ hours. Very pleasing texturally. The air time gave this a softness. Lots of nuance and with dark fruits, leather, saddle, red berries and hints of tobacco. Overall this was in a great spot just slightly overshadowed by the 90 Sperss in the next glass also from mag format.

November 2, 2019 - Decanter Gaja Masterclass - 30 Years of Legendary wine making presented by Gaia Gaja (Decanter FWE, The Landmark hotel, London): Shows quite a bit of color and definitely darker than the 2016s. Sweet nose, felts old and on the balance of been too far. Sweet spices and a difficult wine to enjoy. If this was not served at a Gaja mastercalss we would argue maybe a gone bottle. This wine much like a lot of the 1990s Gajas we have crossed paths suffers from being pushed in its youth , the modern side Langhe pays the price now for an exuberant youth. Gladly the wines of now are more pure and full of elegance. 88-89

November 2, 2019 - Wet forest floor and dark ripe red fruits. Very round and perfectly balanced. Beautiful structure and a long finish. An amazing Costa Russi! (Tasted at Decanter Fine Wine Encounter 2019 Masterclass.)
