June 10, 2022 - A little funk on the nose. But very balanced. Green pepper as expected but overall somewhat subtle.
November 11, 2019 - We decanted for about an hour before pouring. The wine was medium ruby. The nose was medium intensity with black pepper, pyrazines, graphite, flint, and hint of red fruit. On the palate the wine was dry with medium plus acidity, medium plus fine integrated tannins, medium alcohol, and a medium body. The palate demonstrated medium intensity flavors of flint, slaty minerality, black pepper, dusty red cherries, red currants, earth, coffee. The finish was medium plus with a mineral note. Overall the wine was very good although the pyrazines at times was a bit overwhelming on the nose. This wine could still cellar another 5 yrs but was enjoyable now.
February 16, 2017 - Consistent with previous notes, but seemed more closed. Perhaps entering a sleeper window? Not sure this will add too much complexity longer-term. Technical score: 87. Enjoyment score: 88.
December 29, 2016 - Tannins present, but developed, acidity ok, intense ruby color, ripe red fruit, discreet mineral scent
September 25, 2016 - Consistent w/previous notes a few years ago. Very balanced, clean, but lacking in depth and complexity. Still, a nice, drinkable, food-pairing wine - went well with roasted chicken on this afternoon. We enjoyed it. Drink now - 2020.
August 2, 2016 - Dark, brooding, and very earthy with red and black fruits. Long mineral finish. Was very good!
December 27, 2013 - Very clean, expressive Chinon. Tart raspberries and green peppers on the nose with very bright cherries on the palate. Finish is smooth. Slightly thin and lacks complexity, but overall a great QPR.
October 13, 2013 - PnP. Clear, med/deep purple/red color. Another decent wine that was very well balanced/integrated. Med body, soft, good nose/flavor profile. Definitely benefitted from aging. Decent finish. Considering grape which when young tend to taste green, this was in a perfect drinking window. Nothing off. $20

May 19, 2013 - Très beau nez, floral, boisé, ça pinotte presque. La bouche est plus ordinaire cependant, c'est fluide, ça manque de corps. 88
