January 25, 2020 - My last bottle, but the first I've had since 2014. Unfortunately, I am disappointed to report that the wine did not evolve much. It is still energetic and vibrant, and does feel as though it still has many years ahead of it, but I don't have any particular confidence that it will improve. Check out my detailed 2014 notes for my views of its aromas, flavors and structure. Unlike what I wrote in 2014, I now believe that this is too expensive for what it is. It is not a good QPR above $20. Night two: syrupy, 86 vote.

October 7, 2018 - Rich and satisfying. Still vibrant.

December 21, 2014 - Almost two years since i first tasted this, it is much better and much more ready, but still too young. Better to leave these for 2017+. If you do open it now make sure it's with a grilled steak or similar.

Deep, rich color; luscious nose of black fruits and minerals; full-bodied flavors, highly extracted, sweet, firm acidity and softish but persistent tannins. The oak is prominent but not unpleasant. This is not my style wine but I admire it a lot and I do look forward to drinking it again in 3-10 years. Available at $23-$40 and under $30 I consider it a good QPR.

September 14, 2014 - a little sweet and heavy-handed at first (88). drank a little after being decanted for six hours and it had mellowed into an elegant wine (91). Will wait a few years before I open another bottle.

March 29, 2013 - I will put my other bottles away for a few years because I suspect that this wine will show its stuff much better in a few years. For drinking today I much preferred its little (and lower priced) brother Antucura Calcura which is fresher and livelier but still gives big-wine pleasure. By comparison this one feels heavier and over-worked, a little dull. That said, this was a very nice and enjoyable wine, just not up to the Calcura and definitely not up to its price.
