Community Tasting Notes 10

September 2, 2022 - Mediocre vintage, fill level on the bottle was low shoulder at best. Managed to extract a very dirty fully saturated cork, so was not holding out high hopes. Nose was promising, poured a small taste, color was very bricked and pale, but taste was pleasant. Let the bottle sit open for an hour. Picked up significant darker color after opening, with a solid ruby core and some bricking on the rim. Leather, tobacco and gravel on a lovely nose with just a hint of musty earth. Blackberry fruit, granite, coffee on the palate with a hint of tannic structure in the finish. A beautiful old claret that held strong for a couple of hours before starting to fade.

November 26, 2017 - No formal note; fruity and mellow with berries and cherries in the nose; though still fruity with light spices on the palate, lacking some structure due to its age; medium-short finish; overall, 88-89 points.

July 19, 2015 - While it has certainly passed its peak there's still life in this bottle. It took a few minutes in the glass for the nose to reveal itself. Charming nose in fact and typically graves with tobacco and chocolate. The wine still shows length and a delicate texture even though a bit thin.

November 26, 2012 - Liked this. Chestnuts, cigar box, red fruit, savoury balanced with fruit in a lovely way.
Fully mature bordeaux nose with a touch of sweetness. Ends off with a slight kiam kiam note.
Palate not matching up. Rounded fruit and oak but slightly bitter tannins at the end. Vintage issue?

November 25, 2012 - Superb aromatic nose of winter melon tea , tobacco leaves, musky tea with truffles but with Limey chalky minerality. Nice cooling palate finish. Still showig good acidity snd better length than the 73 latour
