Community Tasting Notes 5

November 23, 2019 - Saturday night at The Papies (The Papies, Elizabeth St, London): At a great place now and probably at peak or just past it.
Well evolved. Soft, round, toasty, nice rich feel to it , decent acidity but this is more of round and giving wine than a focused and precise champagne at this stage. Not as great as the ones we tried back in 2017 ( Papies 93-94) but still very solid. Drink sooner than later.

September 2, 2018 - Touch oxidative and maybe with a wiff of TCA. Not sure a proper bottle. Previous notes hold ( Papies 92-94)

May 20, 2018 - Our third bottle and sort of felt lacking vs previous tastings ( Papies 93-94). Felt a bit ordinary and lacking focus and definition vs expectation. Good wine still but a 92 at best this time and with a worrying sign..

September 8, 2017 - Second bottle of these within a month and actually felt better than last time ( Papies 93) especially it was served in the wake of Dom 96 ( Papies 95)
We do feel this is now at optimum when the rich and layered side is balanced by energy and structure, good acidity and has a bright feel about it. Very solid wine once again and very beutiful artist work too. 94

    July 31, 2017 - 50/50 Chardonnay & Pinot Noir. All Grand cru.
Probably the most beautiful of Artist series we have seem and with a wine to match. Quite evolved and with a nice rich ripe and elegant feel. A lot more forward than we expected from a 2002, a bit less precise and feels like is drinking at optimum now. Very enjoyable and will not disappoint. A proper celebration bottle. 92-93 and drink from now
