Community Tasting Notes 4

April 26, 2019 - Surprisingly developed aromas. Earthy, burnt wood, stables, leather and animal tones. Also some redberry fruit, but the fruit get overpowered by the secondary and tertiary aromas. Very structured for a Volnay with relatively firm tannins and good acidity, reminds me more of a Pommard. Based on this bottle I would say drink now, cause the fruit seems to be fading and it can't keep track with the tannin structure.

September 27, 2017 - This is less open than my prior bottle, but still good. The nose is reluctant, but with air shows bright red berry fruits, floral notes, spice, and mineral earthy notes. The palate is fresh and has lovely balance with good, but not great depth. Still on the upswing at this point and I'd vote to hold for 3-5 years.

February 15, 2013 - scarlet red in color. white pepper, plum, fresh soil, on the nose. oak, plum, espresso, cherry, smoke, on the palate. medium tannins and acid on the finish.

January 22, 2013 - Smoky aromas of leather, cherries and sandalwood. Backward, tannic and closed on the palate making it hard to read. Considerable length finishes with cherry and pomegranate fruit after a long interlude of wood and astringency. Really hard to judge at this point.
