March 2, 2021 - 18 hours upon opening serving into Zalto Burgundy glass (“No” day): Pale ruby with almost watery rim and only chunky deposits at the bottom.

Red dates, flora with some meaty notes. Luxurious mushroom notes.

A lot of mid palate concentration here that sets this apart. Very detailed flavours on palate. Satisfying long finish.

    95 points solid.

Second round, this will be more about structure and leafy and floral notes.

Third round, getting really up there on nose and palate.

    January 3, 2021 - Perfect bottle.
    Served blind by myself.
Group guessed producer, but guessed 2008 and 1999.
    Very impressive wine.

January 15, 2018 - Expressive nose displaying warm and round red fruit, cherry, dry cherry, mushroom, cinnamon, caramel, strong iron/rusty nail and earth. Incredible fresh, strong iron/mineral, mouth puckering acidity, still noticeable tannins and a medium to long cinnamon and dry red cherry driven finish. This is a textbook old school Barolo.

    November 23, 2017 - WOW!
This is one of the best wine of my life.
Shared by a friends, opened 3h before, need time in the glass.
But there was a moment during the dinner, when I drank and was Beautiful. That the heart was full of joy!
The perfume was classic old Bartolo's Barolo, but the joy was in the palate. A sweet tannins, great acidity. Marzipan. wow!

March 31, 2017 - Decanted at 1pm. Double decanted back into the bottle at 7pm. Consumed around 930pm. In my experience this is how good old Barolo should be treated. These bottles need air. This bottle was fantastic. Classic Bartolo nose of soft leather, soy and faint charcoal. Bartolo's wines always have a wonderful perfume and this was no different. A delicate wine at this stage yet far from thin or weak. This wine has a deep flavors and is incredibly enjoyable.

(Cantina Mascarello Barolo) Bricked light medium brown color with pale meniscus; mature, delicate, chocolate, truffle, dried cherry, roses nose; tasty, mature, grippy, light beef jus, roses, dried cherry palate, should go another 10-15 years; medium-plus finish
