April 16, 2019 - Purple iridescence. Beautiful cassis, violets, mint leaves, herbs and spices aroma. Tasted black fruits, liquorice with slight iron tertiary. Long, lingering, warm menthol finish - felt so at home. Full bodied and powerful. Silky and velvety. This is still an adolescent though. Whilst no magic came through tonight, the foundations are there. 5 more years should do this good.

December 26, 2018 - deep and brooding. Some tannins have resolved. Campfire, cassis paste. Of course this will keep another 20 (or more) years, but I really enjoyed this bottle in its youthful phase. Whether old or young, opus has a way of stealing WOTN honors in all kinds of company

November 7, 2018 - Private Tasting (w East Coast Opus rep)...From a tough vintage with @ 40% less than normal production due to severe cold and then hot days along with odd rains. The tannins and all else are there yet severely drying at the moment, informs me it is not ready yet so hold em if you got em as a long life is ahead and better joy will come in 5-10 years and more. But can say this one is very pretty in flavor and mouthfeel, in fact it is superb in that it is unique compared with 2003 and 2005. It is as if the vintage was worked harder to produce the best possible outcome from rougher times and you can taste the excellence that came about in different ways. Hard to pick a favorite as they all were amazing and uniquely different if explored, but this 2010 has something the others normally don't, perseverance, and it shows in its more forward flavors and different mouthfeel. Would truly like to see this one again in 10 years to see how it develops and if it can surpass the others.

Tasted along with 2003, 2005, 2015; and they threw in the 2016 Overture as well. Wish could afford and try/compare them (All 4 regular bottlings) in 10 years again in my own vertical tasting!

[[Meant to age, up to 40 years. Bordeaux like in so many ways, not your typical CA cab, which is why enjoyed and appreciate these more than some typical pushed CA styles. That being said it would be easier to buy a similar Bordeaux at 1/2 the price if you know your stuff. Dang you CA, hitting us hard in the US with your prices, but applaud you on the stupendous outcome and abnormally different style from the West of the US]]

September 17, 2018 - I agree with Kevin Cheng below. I had some great vintages of Opus, but this is highly overrated and overpaid. Missing complexity and depth. Next to a few Bordeaux, this was the only bottle not empty after dinner.
