January 4, 2020 - Another Saturday at Chevalier...Mostly Blind 2010 (Chicago IL): Tasted double blind. Lush start with candied Cabernet character, but I found it fairly hollow in the middle. Good enough finish. Certainly enjoyable, but I was just partly surprised when this was unveiled because I have rarely found Opus One to be worth close to its price.

December 19, 2019 - Grateful to have a second go at this great bottle this year. Alluring violets, liquorice, mint leaf bouquet. Palate of black fruits, kirsch, ink, mint, and mocha and spices on the finish. Great long warm menthol finish - wow. Full bodied, opulent, powerful. Rounded and velvety. This has a lot of potential. Ok to open now but this has yet to peak. Patience will be rewarded.

July 18, 2019 - Fantastic but not exhilarating. Drank BYOB with friends after s splash decant.
On the doorstep of maturity but still needs 1-2 hours of air before drinking.
Nose of dark berries, cherry creme de cassis and spice leading to fulsome mouth feel and long finish.
If a date, this was a 20 year old Nebraska farm beauty in NYC for the 1st time. Beautiful and worth your time but neither worldly nor wise.
Give her 2-5 more years when she will thrill completely.

April 16, 2019 - Purple iridescence. Beautiful cassis, violets, mint leaves, herbs and spices aroma. Tasted black fruits, liquorice with slight iron tertiary. Long, lingering, warm menthol finish - felt so at home. Full bodied and powerful. Silky and velvety. This is still an adolescent though. Whilst no magic came through tonight, the foundations are there. 5 more years should do this good.
