May 1, 2020 - This wine could have been a little tighter, but despite being well past it's prime, was excellent. Classic dusky bordeaux on the nose. Dark cherry fruit with silky smooth tannins. Medium body with black licorice on the finish.

October 6, 2019 - Still a very pleasant wine. A bit subdued without anything “big” (fruit, tanin, etc). Subtle but rich red fruit (strawberry?) on palette and a lingering finish (I got vanilla, could be rhubarb).

December 25, 2018 - Opened a 3 liter today for Christmas dinner with friends oh my what a hit. The cork was a little spongy and had to finesse the cork out. This bottle had been cellared properly since purchased. A smooth velvety full fruit taste on the lips with a long lingering spiced finish. The guests all agreed that the flavors lingered on your tastebuds adding to the Christmas dinner. 12 of us dinened and emptied the bottle.
I was invited back for next year
That was my last bottle of 2002 ELU

October 14, 2016 - Raisin and plum on the nose with a bit of an overripe brandy characteristic in a good way. Palate has a nice spice with a hint of eucalyptis and a subdued fruit. Finish is lengthy and develops over a good 20 seconds. Drinking well now.
