May 21, 2021 - Boy's Burgundy wine lunch. Opened and double decanted about 45 minutes before event. At first, it seemed way over the hill. Light brown/amber color with a hint of oxidation. I didn't think it would show well so I opened another wine as a back up. To my surprise, the oxidative notes blew off to leave a wonderfully balanced and rich wine. This was my last bottle and showed the way you always hope your last bottle of a great wine will show!

May 21, 2020 - Good depth here but missing something at the core. Not a perfect bottle but better with airtime. 93-94

January 14, 2020 - One of the better recent bottle. Displaying roundness but also impressive balance. 96+

August 2, 2019 - Aroma is almost aristocratic. Balance, focus, and with great length. Some signs of fragility. Beautiful but cold, just like Estella from the Great Expectation.

August 4, 2018 - Spicy and nuanced. Bright cherries. Nuts and lees. Loads of red and black fruits. Coffee notes and a jagged edge or two. Really nice freshness. In a flight of 85/91/93. Stiff competition for sure and this held its own although was clearly the most advanced and came down to a matter of personal preference as to what people liked. This was the most nuanced for sure but maybe not the most complete. I felt this was the most thought provoking.

August 2, 2018 - A totally comparable showing to the outstanding example of this enjoyed in Hong Kong in June, and actually from the same source. This wine retained the same power and freshness of both the ‘93 and ‘91 in the same flight but had added soily, gamey, and floral notes. Soft coffee and mocha. I think the relatively softer palate led people to prefer the ‘91, which probably was the superior wine, but this is a breathtaking wine to experience. Spectacular.

July 11, 2018 - Deep and broad, but this bottle was slightly acidic and dirty on finish. So while enjoyable and good, was not the best bottle.

June 7, 2018 - World's Greatest, Hong Kong - Night I (Bo Innovation): Glorious bouquet, roses, dark teas, soft red cherry, strawberry, mild hay, all culminating in a detailed and highly expressive bouquet. Elegant and pure. Big projection. This easily takes the flight and is reminiscent of a sensational ‘91 enjoyed a month or so ago, I believe from the same distinguished source. On the palate this is quite soft and sweet. The nose is unbelievable but the palate doesn’t totally match, although is elegant and beautiful to be sure. Soft and fully integrated mouthfeel. This has to be about peak performance.
