February 4, 2024 - No formal notes. Rather mature, slender, quite sweet. 90

September 16, 2023 - #AP 3 536 - in excellent condition, beautifully weighted on the palate with balancing acidity, medium sweet so worked well as an aperitif - much pleasure all round at the tasting group. Mature, but not much in the way of tertiary e.g. kerosene notes at this stage. This will hold for a while but I sense it is near peak - but no immediate rush.

June 24, 2023 - No formal notes. Clearly with mature notes, Might best be drunk during the next two or three years, I guess. 91.

March 6, 2023 - Dear fans of Maximin Grunhaus, please consider noting AP #s or other designating #s. I am drinking AP38, Mosel Fine Wine reviewed two other 2011 Abtsberg Spatlese (AP6 and AP24), and David Schildknecht reviewed three (AP24, AP25 and AP38) and mentioned another (AP7) that he did not taste, so we know that there are at least 5 bottlings of 2011 Abtsberg Spatlese, but not a single community review has noted an AP# here. Like, no biggie, whatever, don't worry about it, who cares, but please do note AP if you remember.

AP #38. Aromas of beeswax, cooked yellow peaches, apple jelly, orange marmalade, freesia, sage, oregano, peppermint, black tea... Creamy and thick yet without much weight, super herbal and lifted, this is classic Ruwer style right here. There's a spectacular combo of juicy fresh and cooked fruit notes on the palate, and rather pungent herbs and flowers offset the sweet ripeness, while integrated acidity and minerality keep it lively. Finishes mouthwatering and sweet, lots of stone and tea-like herbal and earthy nuances balance out the intense honey and cooked fruit notes. Despite its richness this is invigorating and fresh. Just fabulous. Can't see it fading soon, but it is probably in its plateau.

August 30, 2022 - Straw/green. This was good, more steel and backbone than expected. Plenty of lime, green apple, white peach. Blackcurrant leaf. Very well balanced, great acidity. Long. Good concentration and depth. Excellent.
