December 21, 2018 - Drinking well. Still good blue fruit remaining, resolved tannins, and lengthy finish. Could probably go a few more years, but tasty now.

April 6, 2017 - Really drinking nicely, showing good fruit primarily blueberry. No noticeable tannins or oak. Everything seems well integrated.

February 13, 2014 - PnP through aerator. Still holding up well. Nose of cherry, violet, earth, dark fruits and a touch of menthol/eucalyptus. The 24% Cabernet is apparent both on the nose and palate but is well integrated. Cherry palate with blueberry, blackberry, loam and some Syrah meatiness. Juicy mouthfeel with firm tannins but likely milder than before based on previous reviews. Day 2 notes similar to day 1, not any better or worse. The cherry note was a bit more sour than day 1 and I didn't notice any eucalyptus on the nose but other than that, almost identical.

February 13, 2013 - Did not decant this time around per my previous thoughts. This wine seemed shut down right now. Not as aromatic or as much fruit on the palate. It wasn't bad, just not as good as before. The structure is still there and it wasn't oxidized or TCA. Could be a bit of bottle variation or it could be the fabled "dumb" (8 years from vintage) phase. Either way I will be waiting a while to open my next bottle.

October 26, 2012 - Intense aromas of black fruit, pepper, and earth; dry; high acidity; medium bitterness; flavors of cherries and wood; medium/high tannins; full body. We found this to be a very good wine with a great QPR. Enjoyed the dry, full mouthfeel and the lingering finish. Subtle but full fruits and earthiness. My kind of wine.

September 20, 2012 - PnP. Dark purple color. Leggy. Nose is deep and strong - dark fruits and with some earthy and deep spice notes. Nose carries through to the palate - a very strong forward fruit presence that sustains through mid-palate, with decent bite and a touch of heat. Notes of raspberries, black berries, purple plums. Also just a bit of silky smoothness on the tongue. Tannins emerge in mid-palate, while the flavor notes continue. Very well balanced - all of the pieces are there and they all come together. Right out of the bottle this is very flavorful and delightful. Will add more notes from the rest of the bottle.

Four hours later. Bottle has been uncorked and breathing. Nose unchanged. Initial fruit presence just a bit less sharp. Tannins unchanged. Still has bite, but the heat is largely gone. Flavors still linger and sustain for a long, evolving a bit as some of the darker fruits come out. Still very good, but I think I liked it more on initial pour. I rate it as excellent (88-90). This is the highest score I have ever given to any bottle of wine to date.

September 17, 2012 - I really like this wine. Same notes as previous, but might consider not decanting the next time around. The nose/bottle bouquet is really the best part of this wine, so don't drive it away too quickly!
