  • La Cave d'Argent Likes this wine: 92 points

December 30, 2021 - Since last being tasted two years ago, this wine (from a well-cellared bottle) has changed minimally. A blend of 93% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Cabernet Franc, 2% Malbec, 1% Merlot and 1% Petit Verdot, it is still a youthful deep ruby in color and retains a core of wild berries and dark plums that are accented with Asian spices, cocoa, dried herbs and graphite. Medium-bodied, fresh and with seamless alcohol (listed as 14.1%), it wraps its flavors with well-proportioned oak and soft residual tannins. Dense in the middle and concluding with a lengthy finish, this on a very nice plateau. Be sure to decant it off of its sediment and allow at least an hour of aeration. Drink now-2025.

December 29, 2019 - Last tasted five years ago, this estate-bottled red is aging beautifully. A deep ruby blend of 93% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Cabernet Franc, 2% Malbec, 1% Merlot and 1% Petit Verdot, it retains a youthful core of dark berry fruit that is accented with Asian spices, cocoa, black pepper, graphite and savory herbs. Medium-bodied, freshly acidic and with well-integrated alcohol (listed as 14.1%), its tannins and oak are now nicely assimilated. Dense on the middle palate and finishing with good length, this is in the wheelhouse for maximal enjoyment. Drink now-2025.

March 5, 2018 - Drinking up some of my older tref cabs because their long ass bottles mess with my eurocave capacity. Perhaps it was because I was eating chicken instead of red meat, but I just had trouble getting into this wine. It seemed a bit flat and one dimensional. I was originally going to score it 90 but I gave it a bump because it has a tannic structure in place that could easily give it more longevity. Drink now -2021

August 26, 2015 - This may have peaked, fruit is dried and oak, leather, earth dominate the flavor profile. Dry, astringent and harsh tannic finish. Not nearly as good as I remember.
