November 21, 2010 - This is a highly extracted Californian Cab with an amazing amount of fruit for its age (cassis, cherry but also quite a bit of american(?) oak). It also has plenty of alcohol but at this stage it doesn't display too much heat and the alcohol is well integrated. While this might not be the most elegant cabernet, it is by no means a bad bottle of wine (and imo a 75 or 80 rating is not at all appropriate). In its style the wine is actually well made. It has a surprising amount of acidity and length, and could be easily cellared for another 5-10 years. We enjoyed it with a steak on a chilly fall evening and for $35 (I purchased the wine in 2002) I consider this a very good bottle of wine.
