August 2, 2014 - Very pleasurable. Bright fruit, shortish finish.
October 10, 2013 - Nearing end of drinking window, but still a pleasurable Cab. Strong tobacco and blackberry, but not the nice, long finish I hope from Cabs...
September 2, 2013 - Rich and dark with nice soft tannins
September 1, 2013 - Really nice, deep, rich cabernet. It's got a touch of dustiness in it, but more super ripe cherries, hints of cranberry, and a bit of leather/cedar to balance the fruit. This is drinking really well right now - didn't seem to be quite as on last legs as others have implied although I'd be drinking in the next year or two.
August 10, 2013 - About the last year of drink-ability. Great tannins, peppery, tobacco, and dried fig.
July 22, 2013 - Superb Bordeaux blend from Star Lane. We decanted for about an hour, resulting in a great tasting experience. From the strong nose of lush dark berries to the full bodied cab blend that had great structure, this wine complemented our steak dinner beautifully. I don't think that Star Lane (a secondary line from Dierberg) is making this wine any longer which is a shame. So glad that we cellared this ...it aged very well.
January 28, 2013 - Starting to mature a bit, this must have been really closed in its youth. Still, not much interest here. Very soft, kinda sweet, stereotypical napa cab. Probably could have been nice if they hadn't let the grapes hang forever (or whatever it was they did wrong).
May 19, 2012 - An excellent and well balanced Cali Cab. The more than 15% alcohol is well integrated into the wine. Typical and full cab nose. Taste of cassis, plum, raspberry and chocolate, which improves with a decant. Can be a little harsh when first opened. Finish was surprisingly short for a wine of this quality, which lowers the overall score. Could have been great...
