June 19, 2019 - The 1994 GPL is a good example as to what strides have been made in winemaking over the past 2 decades. Similarly difficult years are now produced in a much more elegant, clean style. This shows bovril notes, redcurrant, cedar, old leather, and Comte rind. Stalky, raw palate. Best suited for a rich roast beef lunch at the holidays where the food is rich and the company reasonably unscrutinizing.

January 1, 2019 - Tasted blind, this wine had some amount of decanter time. It had a red/purple center with red at the rim. The medium- intensity nose was so quiet at first I thought it might be flawed. It slowly got better and better.

In the mouth, this wine was still quite tight but very well integrated and balanced. It had some complexity but was also very dry and serious.

This wine still feels way to young to me and if I was going to drink it I would either PnP or decant for 12 hours. However, it is not clear to me that this will ever be top notch.

May 24, 2018 - A real treat, as described by "The wine yummy wise" on April 28 2018. Wish I had more.
