March 13, 2022 - Somewhat muted immediately after opening, this wine comes to life in the course of 15 minutes in the glass. Coffee, smoke, meat, cherries, cocoa, plums, and hints of cola and flowers, with a subtle wisp of leather. Very long aftertaste ending with a touch of not unpleasant bitterness. A sense of quiet confidence. No hurry--this will remain impressive for at least another six years, probably longer. (Previously tasted 3/31/2020)

November 22, 2021 - Ripe dark fruit and slight vanilla in the nose. Rich mouth. Mature tannins in the finish. Done in a ripe international style, but reasonably well balanced.

April 30, 2021 - Black berry fruits in the bouquet and on the palate. Laurel licorice, ok bitterness and acidity. The tannin is powerful enough for a few more years. Firm and good wine. Not made on refinement.

December 25, 2020 - succulent fruit, fine acidity, opened in 20 minutes, long finish, spicier with time.

December 11, 2020 - One of my best bottles. Explosive overripe black and red fruits in rich waves.

December 7, 2020 - It's been a few years since we opened one of these. It has aged well. Drink soon. Soft, but still plenty of fruit. Tannns and acid are diminished.

September 22, 2020 - My pizza night wine (to back fill for the Les Gravières that was so horribly corked). Good thing I had an extra cheesy pizza with plenty of mild pepperoni. The tannins, acidity, spice all cut into and worked perfectly with the pizza. Still overripe dark fruits with some Oak, but the fruit is not as strong as it was a year ago. Definitely heading towards the end of its window but with the tannins still surviving, and surprised by how fast the window seems to be closing. Drink up.

April 13, 2020 - Last bottle of four. Echo my prior notes and for fruit lavor profile those of narloch. That said I thought this bottle was a bit heavy with the dark fruit getting a bit plummy and thus losing a bit of complexity to that weight. A nit perhaps with just this bottle. So as far as further age, perhaps there is some variation....

April 12, 2020 - Huge wine. Intense. 2 hr decant, gave licorice, Forrest floor, black and dark red fruit on the nose. Touch of smoke. Palate is saturating with a long finish. Blackberries all day. Plum. Black cherry. Currants. Great minerality, firm but integrated tannins suggest this could be a few years away from its prime. Excellent QPR. Need to find more.
