September 5, 2018 - From a 375mL. Popped and poured. Preface was, allegedly, a re-label of some project that Philippe Melka was/is involved with. This was my last bottle from an original purchase of seven. Much more complex at this stage in its development. Fascinating nose of cassis, plums, pipe tobacco, chunky beef stew, leather, spices, and alfalfa. On the palate, it’s rich with dark berries, espresso and spices. Tannins are fine and mostly integrated at this point. Long finish. Probably drinking at peak pleasure right now but has plenty of staying power.

January 7, 2016 - Plenty of structure and life yet. Fruit forward, well-integrated cabernet from Healdsburg. I was worried this would be past its prime, but that's far from the case. I'd say this still has 2-3 years of peak life left, and another couple of years of almost-as-good life after that. This is a big, lively, well-integrated cab that's drinking wonderfully right now.

May 1, 2015 - Popped and poured out of a split. Deep, dark purple; no visual signs of age. Beautiful bouquet of dark fruit and spice. Big expression of creme de cassis with some blackberries, and tobacco. Tannins are more integrated but still present and pleasant. Several years of life ahead, yet. While the wine isn't terribly distinctive, there is an undeniable quality about it. Lots of fun. Drink or hold.

October 20, 2014 - Out of a split. Popped and poured. Massive shot of kirsch. Sweet, velvety tannins. A light touch of vanilla. Delicious and drinking so well right now. Drink or Hold.

January 10, 2014 - Popped and poured from a 375mL; no formal notes. This is drinking really well right now and probably should remain doing so for the next year or so at least (in this small format).
