March 16, 2024 - 90 cork pulled, 92 after pored thru aerator, 97 after slow-oxed fro 2 hours. this needs more time and at a minimum should be decanted 2 hours prior to drinking. delicious.

November 26, 2022 - 4th Saturday Brown Bagger (J&L's): Blind. Deep ruby color with a light meniscus perhaps showing just a bit of age. Lovely bouquet featuring black cherry, nutmeg and game. Medium-bodied, with flavors of cherry, pomegranate, cinnamon, nutmeg and Asian spices. Long finish. Flat out gorgeous, and WOTF for the majority, if not all, tasters. Guessed Sonoma pinot but I didn't pick this out as our Kistler.

This was our penultimate bottle double decanted off its sediment about 90 minutes before the flight was poured. This is in a great spot and could have used a bit more time to open and breathe. I might suggest an hour decant or maybe pull the cork a few hours before service. Drink now-2026.

November 5, 2022 - Amazing that this 16 year old is showing so well. Still lots of fruit - bramble strawberry blueberry even a little apple. Structured and layered but bright.

May 4, 2022 - Unexpectedly good-fine. Remarkably primary for 16 years, with only the hint of bricking starting at the edge. The nose is moving away from fruit towards floral/herbal. On the palate, there is depth & complexity with tannins that are still to be fully integrated. The finish is long and enjoyable. Congrats to Kistler for making a wine that is still on it’s way up at 16.
