Community Tasting Notes 4

September 5, 2018 - From 75cl, optically perfect cork. Perfect provenance, perfect storage. PREMOX: Too-dark yellow, pear-drop smell. If this were an ancient Tondonia from a lousy year like 1984, it might be plausible (but still not a good drink). But it isn't. This might well turn out to be the moment at which I decide never to buy white burgundy again. It is certainly the moment when I decided to take a stern look at the 50 bottles of 2005-2014 white burgundy I have in the cellar and muse on the following moral problem: Somewhere between 15 and 30 of these bottles are likely to be premoxed. Is it ethically justifiable to sell them, or should I drink up, always bringing 3 bottles up from the cellar to have a sporting chance of finding one drinkable? First World Problem, sure. Very annoying, though. This bottle: 68P And the CT drinking window until 2035? A sick joke.

June 3, 2016 - From 75cl, perfect cork. Oak and vanilla scent; full-bodied but wound-up-tight, closed entry; very concentrated mid-palate with quite some bitterness; creamy textured, rustic, blunt finish. Given proper storage, I'd suggest leaving this 1-2 years in the hope of it opening up and calming down. Good wine? Yes, but not great fun right now. 89P(+?)

September 27, 2013 - Très riche pour le millésime, mais excellente buvabilité. Primaire dans sa forme actuelle.

July 14, 2012 - Buona ma con un filo di legnetto, non durerà tantissimo ma va ancora aspettata un po'
