October 27, 2022 - OK, this is just getting better -- 4 years after the supposed "drink by" date! My regret is that I have no more bottles of this vintage. Nice brick/garnet color; blackberry/grape licorice ganache nose; Wonderful red cherry, blackberry, cassis and white pepper on the palate with soft tannins. Glorious combination of well-balanced acid and fruit. Just getting better and better. Will see if I can get more of this vintage!

February 27, 2020 - soft garnet / brick color; effervescent black pepper, moist forest scents and black fruit in the nose; very well-integrated tannins give a rich black-fruit foretaste followed immediately by lots of black peppercorns and a long lingering cassis finish.

August 12, 2016 - Smoother with more fruit than the previous bottle from 4 months ago. Drank over several nights, vacu-vin'd between pours. Held up very well. Paired with deep dish pepperoni pizza the first night which brought out more of the spice flavors. Tried it with some Beehive "Seahive" cheese the next night and it was more fruit forward. Finishing off the last glass tonight on its own and it's tasting great. The oak is better integrated than the previous bottle, with softer edges. Well balanced and enjoyable, glad I still have 2 bottles left.

April 5, 2016 - Deep, inky purple color in the glass. Black cherry and pepper on the nose. Loamy palate with black pepper and dark fruits - blackberry, blueberry, plum. Slightly hot. Medium body, juicy mouthfeel. Mild tannins.
The 50% American oak influence detracts from the overall experience IMO but it's a minor quibble. Solid wine altogether but probably better as a food wine than a sipper. Still going strong but fruit is in the background at this point.

September 7, 2015 - This is bottle #6...only one remains...tears on the label. To me this is a exquisite wine. Perfect example of a cooler climate Syrah. Will have to find more.
