March 12, 2023 - Bokarina weekend with Gil, Mark, Amanda, Skye
December 25, 2021 - Great bouquet faboulus drinking at Xmas dinner
November 14, 2020 - Inky dark and brooding, concentrated red fruit. Tannins soft, drinking nicely now
November 7, 2019 - Clear, deep ruby.
Clean, medium (+) nose of blackberry, blueberry, white pepper, vanilla, charred wood.
Dry, medium (+) acid, high ripe chalky tannins, (very) high alcohol, full bodied, pronounced flavour intensity with blackberry, blueberry, white pepper and charred wood all with a long spirity finish.
This is a very good wine. It benefits from a complex array of black fruits and secondary oak derived notes, with only hints of tertiary development coming through. (I found this far less developed than its' "Beauty" sibling). The alcohol is a large issue for me, with a distinctive spirity note on both the nose and (stingingly) on the palate. Whilst further aging will no doubt bring further complexity, I can't see how the alcohol will ever fall into balance.
Cork.
June 17, 2017 - Absolutely gorgeous.
May 27, 2017 - Drinking beautifully now but shows years of promise. Incredibly dark squid ink colour, very smooth on the palate and still retaining forward shiraz fruit flavours.
March 26, 2017 - You could give this a day in a decanter and it would still be opening up. But we only had an evening. Huge, Huge, HUGE. If you like giant pallet attacking Aussie Shiraz, this is it. Once in a while for me, it's great and this one is stunning. Still an infant though so know what you are getting into with this and you'll enjoy it immensely.
July 16, 2016 - This fine Barossa shiraz has now aged very nicely.
January 2, 2016 - Gave several hours in decanter. black purple and deeply staining the glass like syrup. Intricate nose of sugared candies, rocks, smoke, charred wood, tart berries, branches, chocolate raisins, baking spice, and lingering bacon fat - all in delicate degrees, elegantly balanced and not overpowering. Deep jam on the palate, concentrated chew without being cloying. Wonderful charred berry and subtle smoke in the mouth and into the finish. Finish is extremely dense - gooey going down. Echoes on and on with strong hints of vanilla and wood swirling.
