December 30, 2023 - WOW, this is wonderful! Tastes of sweet, plump prunes and raisins, with minerals and light savory notes in the background. Super-balanced, just great.
December 28, 2023 - messy cork that did not come out completely, we had to push it in the bottle... gave residu in bottle.
No detailed notes but I quite liked the power and density. Still tannic, dark robust fruits, mineral driven and a long lingering finish.
lets hope the next cork is a bit better ;-)
December 16, 2023 - Incredibly nose with black fruit, a lot of licorice and orange. A lot of power and energy here, but keeps the balance with sweetness and nice tannins in the pretty long finish. Very young when opened and needs at least 2 hours in the decanter. Amazing.
November 25, 2023 - This was a disappointment. A recently acquired bottle, it wasn’t corked but was definitely lacking secondary and tertiary characteristics one would expect at 23 years. Good solid cherry fruit, a hint of chocolate and not much else.
September 23, 2023 - Oodles of blackberry and liquorice laden with spice and developing dark black chocolate. Rich sweet and unctuous this lingered long on the palate. Beautifully integrated this is now at its peak and drinking superbly. CHP 94 pts
February 3, 2023 - Showed a tad closed at first, it did blossom some though over the evening. Subtle waves of mocha / fig / cigar box / tobacco... Pretty seamless on the palate. Nice.
January 1, 2023 - First dabble into this case, and it didn't disappoint. Needs plenty of time in decanter (of course), and continues to open in to day 2. Still plenty of fruit on top of the woody flavours, and no concern about keeping this for longer.
December 23, 2022 - Deep garnet, lighter at the rim. Violet, precise black licorice, raisin, grape, plum, cherry, ripe, warm spices, savory herb, slate mineral. Medium sweet, high alcohol, full bodied, medium plus acidity, medium tannins, velvety texture.
November 19, 2022 - Black and red cherry, blackberry and spices on the nose. Full bodied with deep black cherry upfront with red cherry contrasts/highlights. Mid-body has a lot of richness and depth, adding dark blackberry as well as plum. Backside shows tart blackfruit, spices and mineral along with fine grained tannins. The depth of the mid-body worked quite well in concert with the backside structural notes and the resulting balance was one of this wine's highpoints. The harmony and integration this created showed each element to it's best. Drinking very well at present, but in a fashion it should be able to maintain over at least the next 5+ years. I may wait on my next bottle until November 2023.
May 22, 2022 - Small bottle. Perfect for four. Chocolate cake in a raspberry sauce. Excellent match.
