August 5, 2017 - Opened 2 hours prior to serving. Not decanted.

Pours a bright purple with garnet flecks. Big, expansive nose of black olive, smoky bacon fat, blackberry, blueberry, and peppery spice.

Rich and full bodied on the palate, but it was never too heavy. Plenty of acidity lifted the fruit and savory elements. Very fine-grained tannins, but they were still young. The finish was persistent, with equal parts ripe black fruit and drying tannins.

Overall this was wonderful stuff, definitely on the modern side but so well balanced and complete. A few more years will only serve to hep the wine.

May 16, 2015 - Coming across as modern in style, Durand's 2010 Cornas exhibits gobs of dark fruit with sweet tannins. Classic Northern Rhone animal funk is detectable on the nose, but it easily gets buried in wine’s rich fruitiness. This young Cornas shows freshness that is elevated by its pine tree forest note.
Many solid underlying elements are apparent, yet they don't mold together in harmony, perhaps due to the young age of the wine or the warm weather, so the judgment is reserved for now. My next bottle may turn out to be 91-93 points quality, but I will not bet on it for at least three years.

February 8, 2015 - Not as nuanced this time around.

December 26, 2014 - Consistent and low outstanding. Great aromatics. Dark red and blue fruit, and, favorite: road tar after a teenager builds a fire on pavement.

December 25, 2014 - This is the first opened of six that I purchased. Just beginning to come into its own, this is a big, concentrated Syrah with great complexity and a spicy finish. I'm looking forward to watching its development with the other five bottles.
