July 28, 2018 - Beautiful. Still vibrant but drink now. Dried berries crushes herbs. Perfect finish.

March 10, 2018 - Almost never see these wines. It's the sangiovese. Enjoyed with pizza. It was an interesting wine. Had it originally on the heels of some bubbles and it was the heavier style napa fruit. Clearly still fairly young and has more legs left. Oak treatment came through a bit heavier with time. Fun to try.

April 3, 2012 - still hanging around but too much alcohol shining through and a bit hot so just ok...surprisingly the 02 was in a much better place

October 3, 2011 - Despite Shafer raising the white flag on their Sangiovese blend two years later, I've consistently enjoyed it and this 10 year old bottle did nothing but reinforce my affinity... Fruit was still alive and well and it paired very nicely with some pasta and red sauce - the experience makes me want to find some more of the "Last Chance" 2003 offering to go along with only two remaining in my cellar.

July 16, 2010 - Exceptional bottle of wine. Great nose. Silky smooth feel, long finish with a hint of tartness. At its peak . . .

(Shafer Firebreak) Deep garnet red color; American oak, maple nose; very oaky, tannic, with some acidity, disjointed palate; short-medium finish
