    February 4, 2024 - Dark red, lots of sediment, cedar, leather, minerals and chocolate on the nose. Grilled beef, herbs, black cherry and beautiful finish. Did much better tonight than my previous tastings.

    December 25, 2023 - second of two bottles brought to elena and sal to pair with christmas dinner. i selected this wine because i needed two of a kind and a recent note suggested that the wine was in serious decline. reviewing notes from other members over the past few years reveals widely variant opinions regarding longevity. this bottle proved to be far from moribund. a few minutes of air were needed to blow off slight bottle funk and reveal the true nature of the wine which impressed with a substantial upward crescendo. strong tannins present but they do not overwhelm the generous fruit flavors including dark red skin fruit such as plum and blackberry. fulll bodied in the mouth. long finish. the wine continued to show well the following day, suggesting that it still has some further longevity. the wine was enjoyed by myself, pat, mario, elena and giuseppe.

    July 27, 2023 - Brambly and dense, with notes of blackberry, cassis, and a very herbal finish. This was still very tannic and didn't budge much through the evening. This needs time. I'm guessing 5-10 years.

    July 18, 2023 - I find Tabarrini's sagrentino's to be well made and clean as they don't show many of the flaws that plague many producers in this region. I knew that it would be young but it was worth a glimpse to see how it's maturing and with a little decant this was more approachable then i expected. Decent finish and I suspect the best is yet to come -solid.

    June 25, 2023 - Whew, sipping on this thing before dinner, even with a piece of cheese and a fatty slice of soppressatta ... it's still a mouthful. Tasty, but big. Hoping it mellows out a little with our grilled strip steaks. I'm also not feeling like this is anywhere close to the edge of it's drinking window ...

    January 29, 2022 - A brooding deep ruby. Massive tannins wrap around dense port like flavors. Quite a mouth full. Perfect with an especially fatty cut of short ribs with a blizzard raging outside. No rush.

    Still deep fruit but a little more diffuse. Tannins are still very present but not overwhelming. Spice, cassis and herbal character is more predominant, normally my preference. But in this case the fruit backing off is a slight negative. The finish was long.
    Slight regression on night 2.
    Both nights MUCH better with food.
