February 24, 2016 - Excellent. Drinking very well with no decanting required. Smoky over flavors of red/purple fruit. A bit earthy. Paired amazingly well with duck breast and paprika duck sausage.

November 3, 2015 - This is a beautiful wine that has only become better with age. Lighter in color with some earth and barnyard in the nose, it has a sweet cherry elegance that just keeps giving. I just couldn't set it down and finished the entire bottle in one evening. Wish I had more.

February 9, 2015 - Dark chocolate, cherry cola, blackberry nose. Flavors are big and masculine - a little leather, a little cedar, blackberry, keffir lime leaf/lime juice. A hair unbalanced right now but I think with more time to breathe that will pass.

August 12, 2013 - Beautiful ruby color in the glass. Lovely nose to go along with. Red fruit in the mouth, cream mouthfeel, minerality, nice acidity, legs. Wait a second, is this Burgundy? No, there's a hint of California pinot candy in there too. Well done!

December 3, 2012 - Cartograph nails the 2010 Floodgate in which I think is my fave of the Floodgates they have released yet.
Reflective of the 2010 cool vintage (can't wait for 2011!) it shows you that "Russian River" pinot as a generalization is as often a winemakers choice as it is a region. RRV Pinots are not all the big slutty Pinot's often generalized.

A beautiful garnet color. Nose of cranberry, young cherry, earth, tea.
In the mouth, the front palate shows Red and some darker fruit, cola; the mid palate is velvety, strawberry.
The finish lingers with pleasant acid and structure.

Not big and over ripe, slutty. Not mild and subdued. Sassy & alluring, the way only a well made Pinot can be.
