September 22, 2018 - Opened the bottle and decanted for an hour. The first sip was pleasant enough but still had a harsity. It was dull to the nose. We decided to leave in the decanter and rest more.
Tried again the next night. The nose intensified greatly. Was a much better wine after 24 hours. -

September 11, 2018 - The first three bottles left me somewhat unimpressed as the wine seemed to be uninvolved. It had won quite a few well regarded gold medals. Today was a revelation as the wine had come together very well showing integrated fruit, oak and tannins. Dark chocolate with some fruitcake nuances on the nose was backed up with lovely black currant palate and a hint of mint. Subsequent vintages show that Redmans have regained their mojo.

October 28, 2016 - Deep dark purple colour. Blackberry, cassis, mushroom, barnyard aroma. Full body, smooth but with a sharp finish. A fleshy wine with a dry finish. The tannin is overtaking the fruit but still very enjoyable.

July 31, 2015 - Dark Crimson colour. Earthy aroma. Full bodied, long finish. Full of fruit, plum, red and black berries. Initially strong tannin but this faded into the background after an hour. Great wine.

December 10, 2014 - Drank to make some room in my vintec.
This is the first redman I've had that's not been affected by TCA. Had a horrible record with these, and I decided it wasn't worth the risk of cellaring this further. Delighted to smell dense cassis and blackberry and oak on opening. Benefits from some decanting, though it's heavily oak dominant, and that doesn't really blow off. It's like having my nose in a newly charred barrel. Hard to get past that, but there is some dark bramble fruit and eucalypt lurking in the background. The palate is dense and rich, with a slight tannic grip that could mellow with time. The finish is on the hotter side, which to me doesn't promise much in the way of further cellaring. Still good for the price.
