November 9, 2020 - In a blind tasting people thought it was 3-5 years old - tons of energy. There’s a great mix of umami & richness with red/purple fruit & spice. Great acid profile at 11 years old.

July 30, 2020 - Pop and pour. This bottle showed even better than the magnum. The Levity is a masculine yet light Grenache blend with a healthy 32% Syrah giving it some dark fruit and licorice to go with the red berries and spice. Some Viognier, a Sanguis signature, gives it a hint of citrus. A beautiful wine that paired well with sous vide pork chops with Dijon mustard sauce.

April 17, 2020 - This is a full bodied Grenache right in the middle of its drinking window, with a little Syrah mixed in. It has intense flavors of red and blue fruits with enough body, acidity and heat to accompany grilled pork tenderloin.

July 22, 2018 - Big fruit, both red and dark, from the mixture of Grenache and Syrah. Viognier softens and sweetens the mix to make a big wine a pleasure to drink.

June 7, 2018 - Nice tart cherry tones with strawberry and sweet spice. Vibrant acidity keeps things lively.

July 23, 2016 - Second time trying this wine since the first 1.5 yrs ago. This time at Cowboy Ciao Scottsdale. The wine is aging beautifully; CC's cellar management and perfect serving temperature aren't hurting things any.

Notes are similar to Jan '15, but if anything has changed, it's that the nose is a knockout. Deep, deep loamy earth, cobbler, raspberry jam. Wild berry and graphite/tar are on the palate, and the structure, texture, and finish are awesome. Maybe a deserted island wine for me given its balance and versatility (tried it with the scallop/morel app and...whoa).

October 25, 2015 - This was a great wine, re-affirming the winemaking talents of Matthias Pippig. A superbly balanced effort right now, opens up with a medium dark colour leading to very pleasant notes of flowers, cola, spice. The "weight" of the wine is right around where you want it to be; the finish was 20-30 sec, with the rounded tannins showing up all the way through. Decanted, and served over several hours, the last glass was the best so I'd have to suggest that I think this bottle still have 5 very good years left in it. Varietals listed as "SECRET" on the label, but the wineries own website lists as GSVR (the latter being Roussanne).

June 22, 2015 - This is a big wine but also displays a well balanced structure and finish. I would not say this has a lot of nuance but it is Grenache and it delivers on the fruit paste, jammy backbone that delivers a long and balanced finished. 15.6% alcohol.

January 7, 2015 - Coming off my first Sanguis experience, which wasn't great. This helps me understand what all the fuss is about. The blend of GSV is artistic. Big gushy cherry and berry fruit up front from the grenache, compact wild berry, herb, and river stone from the syrah, and a full-on floral wrapper from the Viognier. In a great drinking window with balance, polish, elegance, and power. Enamored.
