Community Tasting Notes 10

May 30, 2020 - 2+ hours of air in glass container. Drank over the next 2 hours. Drank in Gabriel Standart.
Appearance is clear, deep intensity, inky ruby colour. Legs.
Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of earth, sweet spices, integrated oak toast, glossy blackberries, black cherries, tar, shoe polish, new leather. Developing.
On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium+ alcohol (14.5%), fine grippy high tannins, full body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of dark licorice, glossy blackberries, black cherries, tar, earth, fresh leather, grilled herbs. Long finish.
Very good quality. Very well-made. Polished, almost a little clinical. In a good window. Should still hold and develop well over the next 4+ years.
Blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, with a bit of Petit Verdot. 20 months in French oak barrels.

January 22, 2017 - Tannins are still very strong and there is a lot of sediment but this is evolving very nicely! Really good wine.

November 1, 2016 - Drunk over two days.
Very concentrated purple. Nose of leather and stewed dark fruit. Earthy palate, mainly vegetal and a little mealy. Too dominated by inferior merlot. Drinkable.

April 11, 2014 - Deep opaque ruby with garnet and black hues with some fading; Intense plum, cooked cherry, red and black currant, blackberry; dried herbs, cigar, underbrush, moss with slight anise tones; plush, chewy, full bodied but red cherry-sour plum notes keep it buoyant; coffee, mocha and smoke in the finish; this is a massive, fairly rich modern style, with Italian character; well-balanced. The 20 mo. of oak is very well integrated and wears it well. 14.5% 92-93

November 3, 2013 - Very nice. PnP, first day closed and tannic. Second day after a night in the fridge. Improved. Black fruit, merlot. Good finish.
