February 25, 2023 - A private tasting (Buurtcafé De Tros, Amsterdam, NL): Final bottle from a three-bottle lot purchased at auction in 2000. Top shoulder level. Brought as an impromptu gesture because the cork fell in when I lifted the bottle in my cellar. Full golden colour with an orange sheen; the nose is mature but fresh and lively, ripe citrus and peach, honey and tropical fruit, touch of oak; the palate retains a lovely sweetness, in perfect harmony with savoury oak and lively acidity, intense and elegant, mild bitters; Grand Marnier on the finish, hint of oak, not drying at all, very good length. There is real finesse here.

October 10, 2021 - Dom Pérignon / Vosne-Romanée Tasting-cum-Lunch (Restaurant Slagerij De Beurs, Amsterdam, NL): Top shoulder level. Full golden colour. Deep and rich, warm and spicy, Grande Champagne Cognac, intense and precise, delicately sweet orange, complete and powerful, concentrated but a bit hot on the finish.

October 19, 2003 - Rich gold, shot with orange; light but aromatic nose, peaches and cream, honey, aniseed, salted butter, spices; deliciously stylish and attractive, not a heavyweight but well-balanced, medium-sweet, velvety, lively, flavours of honey and citrus, juicy, playful; lovely length.
