February 10, 2024 - Might have waited a little long on this for my taste. Not fully oxidized yet but showing plenty of signs of age, with mushroom and hints of caramel. Still nice acidity but not a ton of fruit. More interesting with air and as it warmed in the glass. Drink up.

September 23, 2023 - At first opening, it tasted like caramel and I thought it was bad. After a couple of hours of it being opened, it tasted better. On Day 3, I finished the last third of the bottle and it was delicious, no indication of being past its prime at all. It was remarkable.

May 1, 2023 - At year 13. Still very correct and drinkable. From notes, I liked it better younger. Linear Chardonnat with good typicity. But there are so many wines at under $40 I would rather have in my glass.

April 23, 2023 - Disappointing- not much interest. Not at all bad or dead. Linear Chardonnay with good typicity. But at $40, there are plenty of French and American Chardonnays I like more.

December 28, 2022 - Drinks very well (dec of 2022). Instens and rich still, non of the thin apple flavors or oxidized notes, at least in this magnum. Was even better 2 days later. Minor caramel flavors with good light honey and citrus but a great rich mouthfeel kept you coming back.

December 18, 2022 - Light gold. Delicate nose of almonds, dried fig, baking spice, dried flowers. On the palate, unctuous fruit, medium acids, medium body, medium alcohol (13%). Lovely balance of mature fruit and refreshing acid.

March 17, 2022 - Medium gold. Lychees, nut skin, golden raisins on the nose. Pronounced fig fruit on the palate with salty acids, rich mouth feel, long finish of orange rind. 13% alcohol. So much fun to have reached the stage where my Chardonnays are undergoing that transformation that people say happens around 10 years. This is a lovely wine.

October 22, 2021 - Tart acidity, lemon curd, lime zest and a bit of vanilla with a shot of alcohol on the finish. Pleasant but simple.

I’ve cellared many vintages of Stony Hill Chardonnay. It doesn’t seem to gain complexity in the cellar.
