Community Tasting Notes 8

  • Robert Pavlovich Does not like this wine:

December 22, 2015 - Spitzy, big, and somewhat alcoholic, not sure what happened here. Consistent over two different bottles opened. Liked this much more 18 months ago.

  • lyle@vinchicago.com Does not like this wine:

March 20, 2015 - Bad execution of Dolcetto for me. Over-ripe and over-oaked. Cartoonish portrayal of a big powerful wine, I know it was a warm vintage, but this was too much. Did not finish.

  • Robert Pavlovich Likes this wine:

June 14, 2014 - Compressed, but pleasing aromas of concentrated raspberry, blackberry, and wet soil.

Lean to medium bodied palate leads with chalk and earth, and the fruit lying beneath. Shows more as licorice/pomegranate, lead pencil, and mild spice with air. Has good freshness, smallish but active tannins lead to a low intensity finish with good length. No doubt a winning Dolcetto, recommended.

June 9, 2014 - PnP through Vinturi. Opaque deep scarlet. Nose of bramble, dark fruit and some spice. Palate showed tart blackberries, bramble spice and herb. Herbal tart blackberry finish that lingered nicely. Better on second night as some of the harshness had faded. Would buy again.

February 12, 2014 - The nose was rich, exciting and somehow autumnal, showing blackberry and spice, violet floral notes and undergrowth. On the palate, tart blackberry and herbs filled the senses in a juicy, soft textured effort. The finish was long and saturating with herb infused black fruits. Beautiful.
