February 11, 2023 - Drinking nicely, more impressive aromatics than palate. Smells like aged St. Emilion / Pomerol - luscious cigar box aromatics of tobacco, wood, spice. Palate tends towards stewed red/black fruits, medium low acidity, some wood influence, fairly soft tannins, not a lot of tension.

February 4, 2021 - Virtual right bank Bordeaux tasting (blind). (Skype): Wine 1 of 6. A blend of 85% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Cabernet Franc, supposedly. 12.5% ABV.
Medium to dark garnet colour. Red fruit, red cherry, leather, tobacco, some chocolate, spices, herbaceous notes, and balsamic notes, with average concentration and average to good length. The Cabernet Franc shines through. Initially, the lively acidity was quite prominent and the partly resolved tannin fairly chewy, and the medium-bodied wine was very demanding on its own. Later in the evening, after the wine had warmed up and had breathed a little, the acidity and tannin tamed, and the wine became harmonious, in particular paired with food (steak tartare on day one and filet mignon on day two). By day three, it was smooth and balanced, with well-integrated acidity and tannin. Drink now with careful aeration. Pair with a steak. -

August 31, 2017 - Still a relatively dark red. Nice transparency. Mature nose of leather and wood. Surprisingly bright sweet fruits. Very soft and lush mouthfeel. Easy to drink. At its peak and on its way down. Drink now to 2020.

September 25, 2015 - 1988 Clos Fourtet appears wild and rough with loud and intriguing aromatics of leather, forest floor, tobacco, black olives, sweetness and red fruits (plums and black cherries). Due to the lack of flesh and depth, it doesn´t keep up to the high expectations on the palate. Some dark fruit, iron, little iodine and decent length with peppery spiciness. Rough, yet fascinating, wine.

October 7, 2012 - Dark cherry red with black core. No signs of age. Attractive nose with mostly secondary aromas of leather and tobacco, but also hints of fruit (blackberries). On the palate, it's marked by acidity, which may also be due to the rather cold drinking temperature (15 or 16°C), has slightly edgy tannins and is not too seductive, yet a good Bordeaux for the dinner table.
