June 19, 2022 - "Día de los Daddys" (Chicago, IL): Drinks like a cool-climate pinot (there haven't been that many cool Oregon vintages since then). Tart eating cherries (as opposed to straight up tart cherries) on the nose with a bit of spice and stemminess. The palate is acid-driven and lean, with slightly coarse tannins. Certainly this has the material for further aging, but I do like the balance of the tart fruit with the structure right now.
July 8, 2017 - Took awhile to open fully. Beautiful Pinot. Vibrant; dark cherry notes. No drop off at the finish. Bergstrom consistency, as usual.
February 11, 2017 - I do love this wine. Nose is powerful with semi-sweet cherries, baking spice, black pepper, and just a bit of dry earthy dust. Palate is bright with fruit, extremely fine but chewy tannins, smoke, earth, cinnamon, and lemon oil. Fascinating and delicious. Finish is long and lingering. This is a beautiful, powerful, and versatile wine.
November 26, 2015 - Drank on Thanksgiving (Bergstrom is a tradition) next to a 2011 Temperance Hill. The Gregory Ranch was not as good (for me) as the Temperance Hill - a little thin and bland in terms of nose, mouthfeel and balance. Still good - just not up to expectations.
February 20, 2015 - Disappointing
November 27, 2014 - Opened about two hours before drinking. Wine opened up during the course of Thanksgiving dinner. Fairly bright nose, but more structure than fruit initially on the palate. Good, not great for a Bergstrom for me.
August 13, 2014 - Not a big wine. Lots of cherry cola. Nice easy drinker.
May 7, 2014 - Light to medium ruby, spicy black cherry, menthol and candied plum on the nose, sweet on the attack followed by tart berry fruit, medicinal funk, chalk and stale wood, finish is bright, lean, mineral driven but one-dimensional
March 13, 2014 - Flawed - Nose had the distinct smell of band-aid...yuck!
Too bad because I typically enjoy Bergstrom Pinot. In the mouth it is disjointed and astringent...
Down the drain :(
August 4, 2013 - Not my favorite Bergstrom but very good nonetheless. Bright red fruit nose with a bit of mineral and forest floor. Spicy cherry and strawberry palate. Short finish. Try to hold these for some time to develop. Maybe 3-4 years.
